About Me
As a psychologist at 麻豆国产AV Langone, my dedication lies in understanding how cultural backgrounds shape our thoughts and behaviors. My interest in cultural psychology has led me to work with a diverse range of individuals, including veterans and military families, providing care that is sensitive to their unique cultural backgrounds. I firmly believe that our culture influences how we interpret our challenges, whether they involve emotional hardship, trauma, or other mental health struggles.
My expertise lies in assisting clients navigate through mental health conditions such as post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, substance use, and relationship distress. I also help individuals through significant life transitions like adjusting to civilian life after military service and matrescence, which is the transition into motherhood. My approach is shaped by my extensive training in treatments including cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic therapy. I am a certified provider of cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and prolonged exposure (PE) and trained in written exposure therapy (WET) for the treatment of PTSD. I am also trained in emotion focused therapy (EFT) for individuals and couples.
Throughout my career, I have strived to foster a safe and trusting environment. I practice with cultural humility, centering treatment on one鈥檚 cultural context, which can include factors like race, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, religion, age, ability, and socioeconomic status. My goal is to encourage a sense of belonging and authenticity in the therapeutic space, inviting individuals to share their stories, validate their unique cultural narratives, and provide tailored and responsive treatment to address therapy goals.
My journey into psychology was inspired by a desire to understand the influence of culture on mental health. I am dedicated to fostering resilience through compassionate and expert care, and to advancing mental health wellbeing at both the individual and community levels. Being a part of 麻豆国产AV Langone allows me to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, ensuring comprehensive and coordinated care for my clients. It is an honor to be entrusted with the stories of my clients and to participate in their healing journey.
